Synopsis
Marissa Marcel is a film star who made three movies over three decades, none of them were ever released, and then she vanished. The viewer is given access to hundreds of clips from her unreleased films, behind-the-scenes footage, talk-show appearances, and table reads, and must scrub through the footage to piece together what happened to her. By clicking on objects and faces within each clip, new footage is surfaced through a match-cut mechanic, creating a non-linear investigation that feels like editing a film and solving a mystery at the same time. Directed by Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story and Telling Lies, Immortality pushes interactive cinema into genuinely new territory, a game about watching movies, about the act of looking, and about the dark truths that hide between the frames of Hollywood's glossy image.
How the Branching Works
Immortality features 3 distinct endings. At key decision points the film pauses and presents your options, your choice determines which scene plays next, reshaping alliances, outcomes, and the story's resolution. With 360 minutes of total footage spread across these branches, a single viewing reveals only a fraction of what the film contains. Replay to discover hidden subplots, alternate character arcs, and endings that only unlock when you choose differently.
